How To Make Cream Cheese Mints Using Flexible Candy Molds

Ever wondered how to make those delicious mints you get at weddings and special occasions? They are called cream cheese mints and have been around for years. For those of you who haven't tried them, they have an excellent creamy texture. Our flexible candy molds come with a cream cheese mint recipe that we just love so we thought we would share it with you.

Cream Cheese Mint Recipe

4 ounces of cream cheese
16 ounce box of powdered sugar
¼ teaspoon of mint flavor
1 cup granulated sugar
food coloring (optional)

Set 1 cup of powdered sugar aside to help facilitate the kneading process. Mix remaining powdered sugar and cream cheese to form a single dough. Add mint flavor and desired food color. Knead dough with reserved powdered sugar until dough is no longer sticky. To prepare mold, press a small amount of the dough mixture into each mold cavity and remove. This will coat the candy molds with oil from the cream cheese. Now dip the mold into the granulated sugar, coating each one well, shaking off the excess.

Press cream cheese dough into each mold and smooth off the excess. When all molds are filled, invert the mints onto waxes paper or freezer paper. Repeat until all dough has been made into mints.

Cream cheese mints need to dry for 24 to 48 hours, covered with a dry cloth only. When dry, store in a plastic seales container. Mints can be frozen and kept up to 6 months. This recipe yields approximately 144 mints.

An edible candy greeting card. I have made 2 of these for different people for different occasions. I made my first one for my husband when we were dating. I can't find the picture of it but it was a lot of fun and something we still talk about today(almost 12 years ago). The second one I made was for my in laws on their Anniversary. I used foam cutouts to make the people and found stickers and a bow to add a fun finish to the card. Picking out the candy was probably the funnest thing to do.

I hadn't decided what exactly I was going to write on the card when I picked out the candy, I just chose different candy names that seemed to best suit my in laws. You can be serious or a little silly, especially with some of the candy names out there now. Once I picked a handful of candy I took it home and started thinking of the first sentence and from then on each sentence came pretty easy. This type of gift is also a great way to get your kids involved. They helped pick out candy and thought of a few cute things to say as well!

Don't forget after you give your special someone an edible candy card to take a picture of it because it is not long before the candy is eaten! This is a personalized gift that no one can duplicate! A perfect gift card for that someone that has everything! You can also find more creative fun homemade gifts at http://www.giftsoutsidethebox.blogspot.com
